Survival-related questions, part 1
Read an essay today on the need to keep a low profile. A sound philosophy, no two ways about it.
One of the points stated bluntly to only pay cash for firearms and ammo, never using a credit card. I agree with that but felt somewhat glum, because I usually - though not always - purchase my ammo online and use a credit card. Not much mind you: a couple hundred rounds here, a couple of sealed milsurp tins there, once a month or every two months or so. I do it because the shows in my area usually don't carry what I want, otherwise I'd buy there. Plus, there are good deals online. Just wondering if I am the only one who does so, and if it's something I need to be worried about. I am concerned now, yes, but then again also think that if it's come down to xyz agency running me down via purchase records as part of a confiscation directive, it's likely time to use the supply, anyway. Thoughts? |
Re: Survival-related questions, part 1
If you're buying a lot of ammo, you probably enjoy sport shooting or hunting, so you're probably using up what you buy.
Too many man-hours, too little return on investment. Ammo is still a legal product, no limit on amount owned/on hand. They'd first have to pass a law on limits and then persue those that purchased in bulk after that day. |
Re: Survival-related questions, part 1
Your seller would have to be in bed with any group wanting to know what you're buying. Your credit card transaction alone as communicated to the bankcard acceptance service would not likely record what it is you purchase.
In other words, if you feel you trust the seller of the ammo to not be sharing sales records with anyone else, then you have no worries. |
Re: Survival-related questions, part 1
80% of all my ammo comes from "Cheaper than Dirt" on line...... just got the new junk mail from them and they have some good bargain this month and also "Sportsmen Guide"....... I was looking at the two drums that holds 100 round for my mini-14, for no reason but only as a toy $249.99 because in a real firefight I would use the clip.

Yes you can trust your credit card banker not to take note you made a purchase from AMMO.com with $26 shipping.

Re: Survival-related questions, part 1
I don't guess I really worry about it......I figure if you talk about it online, they probably have more access to that than going thru a zillion credit card line items and actually figuring anything out.
But then I'm fairly lucky to live not far from Wiedner's Shooting Supply, and I walk in with cash and walk out with whatever.......and they do a BRISK walk-in business for a place that is mostly a mail-order place. Their unmarked building ( if you don't pretty much know what it is, you'd drive right by it ) is a big ole yellow metal bulding about 5,000 sqft, with a walk-in store front of about 10' x 20'....and I've NEVER been in there that I didn't have to wait on somebody in front of me. http://www.wideners.com/ And as you said: "then again also think that if it's come down to xyz agency running me down via purchase records as part of a confiscation directive, it's likely time to use the supply, anyway." OK....what's Part 2 ? |
